---I WANT TO GET MY SIGNATURE/HAND DRAWN ARTWORK MADE INTO A BRAND. HOW SHOULD I SUBMIT IT TO YOU?---Make your signature as large as possible on white paper using a black pen or marker. There are TWO ways you can submit your signature; you can mail it in, or you can scan it and email it to us. We do not accept Faxed artwork.
---HOW DO I SUBMIT ARTWORK FOR CATTLE BRANDS?---
For Cattle Brands, you can either Fax, E-mail or Mail in a copy of your brand certificate or sketch of what you want the brand to be.
---WILL I SEE WHAT MY LOGO IMAGE WILL ACTUALLY LOOK LIKE PRIOR TO MY BRANDING IRON BEING MADE?---Yes, Brand-First will E-mail a PROOF copy of your logo, design or signature for your approval prior to manufacturing your branding iron. We require your e-mailed approval of the proof copy before we can begin work on your branding iron.
---THE PROOF YOU SENT LOOKS HUGE ON MY COMPUTER SCREEN, NOT ACTUAL SIZE!---Due to the great variations in screen sizes and screen resolution, your proof image will NEVER appear actual size on your screen. In order for the proof to be ACTUAL SIZE, it needs to be PRINTED. Make sure when the print dialog box comes up, the PAGE SCALING is set to 100%, Full Scale, or No Scaling.
---I APPROVED MY ARTWORK PROOF, BUT NOW WANT TO MAKE CHANGES, CAN I?---Up to a certain point, yes. But once your branding iron is in production, changes cannot be made. If your branding iron is one with a replaceable head, a new head can be made, but you will incur a fee.
---HOW DO I FIGURE OUT HOW MANY SQUARE INCHES MY BRAND WILL BE?---To calculate square inches, multiply the WIDTH of the image by the HEIGHT of the image. For example, if your image is 2" wide, and 1½" high, you would have 3 Square Inches (2.0 x 1.5=3.0).
---HOW DEEP IS THE ENGRAVING ON YOUR BRANDING HEADS?---Flame heated, electric heated, and propane heated tools normal engraved depth is about 0.05". Pallet branders and stainless steel BBQ brands are about 0.25" deep. We offer extra deep engraving on some tools for an additional fee.
---DOES THE PRICING ON THE WEBSITE INCLUDE THE BRANDING TOOL AND THE ENGRAVED HEAD?---YES! Pricing on our website includes the branding tool with the engraved branding head.
---DO I NEED A TEMPERATURE REGULATOR TO GET A GOOD BRAND?---A temperature regulator is not necessary; however it is very helpful in getting a consistent clean brand. Hardwood, softwood, plastic, leather, rubber, cork, etc. all brand best at different temperatures. A temperature regulator enables you to adjust the branding tool’s temperature lower for a more uniform brand and less risk of over branding.
---WHAT IS THE TEMPERATURE REGULATOR SETTING FOR FOR MARKING WOOD, PLASTIC, LEATHER, ECT?
Achieving the brand you want on different materials will require experimenting with different temperature control settings and dwell time the branding is head against
the material your branding.
For WOOD we suggest starting with the temperature control set to 10 (or maximum).
At temperature control set to 10, wait 15 to 20 minutes for the branding tool to heat.
Test brand by holding the engraved head on the wood for 1 to 2 seconds. If 2 seconds is too dark a brand or over burned, try again at 1 second.
If at 1 second the brand is still too dark, dial the temperature control to 8, wait 15 to 20 minutes to allow the brander to arrive at the new heat and test brand again.
If the brand is too light dial up to 9, wait 15 to 20 minutes to allow the brander to arrive at the new heat and test brand again.
Continue with setting the temperature dial up and down in smaller increments until you get an acceptable brand when you hold the face of the tool on the wood surface for 1 or 2 seconds.
We suggest marking the setting with a Sharpie and marking it "W" for wood.
For PLASTIC and LEATHER we suggest starting at 7 on the temperature control dial and go through the same procedure as described above to achieve your best brand.
We suggest marking the setting with a Sharpie and marking it "P" for plastic, "L" for leather.
